Snapshots from the “Outoor Reception”
Bundy Browne, strolling musician
It was Sunday, July 24. During the morning, MVCC members scurried to set up easels on which to mount posters and pictures to describe our project, and tables for a variety of goodies. In the preceding days, we had marked the outlines of the future buildings and set up canes bedecked with colored paper to represent the fruit trees we’ll plant to replace the dying walnuts that 120 years ago were part of this valley’s abundance of fruit trees.
Guests from the neighborhood started arriving by noon. We didn’t keep a formal count, but we think over a hundred came. We’d invited as many as we could of the immediate neighbors, and others from near and far who might be interested to see more of what we’ll be building. Our members gave tours around the property and explained how we plan to rejuvenate the old farm house and move it up front toward the street.
